Staff Report

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) shut down three illegal FM radio stations operating in the vicinity of Swabi district.

In a press release issued on Friday, PEMRA NWFP Regional General Manager Muhammad Farooq warned all those involved in illegal FM radio transmissions to stop their broadcasts immediately or stern action would be taken against them.

Operating an FM radio without a license from PEMRA was an offense punishable with imprisonment for a term that may extend to four years or with fine which may go up to Rs 10 million or with both in addition to confiscation of the equipment.
